Many property owners today are looking to retain and maintain the original character and features of their property, the condition of which is often put at risk by poor and inappropriate repairs and improvements.

Typical damage to decorative finishes

Just because the property is old or not listed does not stop you carrying out repairs sympathetically, which is more beneficial to the building and less likely create a knock on effect of further issues or damage.  A common example of this is inappropriate and unnecessary repointing of brickwork with sand & cement mortar over an original lime mortar, often coupled with an inappropriate weather struck joint. This type of finish changes the whole dynamic of the wall and will often lead to frost damage of the brickwork.

We can undertake a full inspection of your property in much the same way as a pre-purchase building survey and draft a report on the current condition and prepare a schedule of future maintenance and repairs required. If the property is listed we can help with obtaining Listed Building Consent where necessary.
