We only do Building Surveys (often referred to as a Full Structural Survey) as we feel these are the best form of report to convey the condition of a property and the recommended repairs to our clients.  Other lesser comprehensive report forms such as the RICS Homebuyer, restrict the surveyor to reporting only on the condition and making recommendations for further investigations. They specifically preclude the surveyors from giving any advice or recommendations on how or what repairs are required which is of limited use with historic buildings.  The standard terms of instruction for the Homebuyer reports also state they are not suitable for Listed Buildings or any building built before 1849 which therefore excludes most historic buildings.
